Day 8 - I'm Back....................

Thank you Tammy for that - very nice blog.

Yes, I was out in nature..........so much that - only human contact was about 50 yards away in an RV. The full moon shined bright through the trees, then I heard it - the howl of a wolf - then his freinds. For a brief moment I stopped what I was doing & listened to this sound I had never heard before. After realizing what I was hearing - I thought I might get out of my tent & turn on my camquarter to tape the sound - but I chose to set tight.

I listened to the wolf calls for a while longer & fell fast asleep.

I have had great weather - I'm hunkered down in a campsite north of Vegas, NV - tonight.

Beauty of creation

Tonight, DJ is in an area where she can't communicate using her cell phone or laptop. These "down times" give her the opportunity to be at one with nature and to meditate on the beauty of life.

It wasn't meant to be...........on Day 5

Spent the afternoon in bumper to bumper traffic in Phoenix, didn't make it to the TV station - it wasn't meant to be! Lots of fun thing happened today - a board the size of Florida broke off an 18 wheeler came right at me & Big Bertha. I avoided a direct hit - but ran over it (We are all OK) When I stopped to get gas in Phoenix - a guy & a lady walked up - the woman was wearing short shorts. I thought nothing of it - we are in Arizona where temps are over 100. The lady walked back to the building & stood resting against a phone booth. The man was asking men at the pumps if they wanted a discount date with his prostitute(the woman standing against the phone booth) he was her pimp - who knew..........??. In most cases a loud mouth like this would have had something smart to say to me, since I was the only other woman in site - but as he approached - I pulled back my jacket exposing my very large knife - the pimp kept stepping - I filled up & was on my way.
On the flip side - I headed up 17(N) toward Flagstaff - no Black people to be found - so the rest of my afternoon was spend scaring white people, I guess they never seen nothin' like me before.........:)
I don't think this country is ready for DJ & Big Bertha - but guess what "HERE WE COME!!!"
Now this is what I call reality TV!!

I am hunker down west of Flagstaff - until tomorrow, my friends...........

Take care & God Bless - DJ & Big Bertha

Is Tucson, Arizona ready for DJ & Big Bertha?

Day 4

Im here in beautiful Tucson - camping in Cactus Country. The folks that crossed my path today were very nice exept for one - Nothing a good laxative wouldn't fix...:)
Cactus Country allowed Big Bertha & me to camp free. Someone else in the parking lot of Safeway donated $10.00 to pay for gas. I watched the filming I did yesterday on 191 - camera mounted to the handlebar of Big Bertha, it turned out pretty good if I say so myself.

Off to Phoenix tomorrow - heading to one of the TV stations!

Wish me luck..............

Thanks & God Bless, DJ & Big Bertha

PS - Problem solved in Tucson - OH Yeah, I forgot to tell you I almost crashed & burned on 191-S Day - 3.
Just a suggestion: Don't mix - sleep depervation, video camera, 10 mph turns & an 800 lb. motorcycle.

You Can't keep an old Girl Down!

Day 3 has been completed! Please be patient with me - I am having huge difficulties with my cell phone provider & this is delaying my ability to get messages to you in a timely manner.

Update: Sunday (late) I was looking for my usual place to shutter down & I came upon another one of my angels. Her name is Diane McDonald. She allowed me to stay in a resently vacated trailer FREE & took me to a very nice lunch Monday before I headed south on 191. We share some of our lifes experiences & will be friends for LIFE!!

I am hunkered down in Safford, Arizona.

Until next time - God Bless, DJ & Big Bertha
