Day 92................

I am back in Beaverlodge, Alberta, Canada!! Last year when Big Bertha broke down in Pink Mountain, BC - we were taken 10 hours to this little town in Canada with a huge BEAVER statue at the end of town as you enter from Grand Praire. I was asked if I had seen the beaver, at the time I hadn't - and of course my response was I no haven't - I carry my own........!!

Well, they have had their first frost up here - time to break out my Gerbing's heated gear! No hand shakes with this throttle hand though only hugs & my right foot is speaking to me too! Staying warm, dry & completing this mission is manditory!! 5533 miles before Big Bertha and I ride through ALL 50 States & turn over 200,000 miles - time to kick it up a notch, not just one notch but RAMP IT UP BABY - Kick A........ & take names!!

LET'S GET READY TO RUMMMMBLE.....................!!!!!!

It is a Holiday weekend here & camps sites are all booked. After I re-calculate my miles, which is done daily, like checking air pressure - I will know if Big Bertha & I will hit the Alaska Highway Sunday or Monday. Before we move on, Gail & Cal THANKS for inviting me into your home - helping me dry out my tent, tarps & bike cover - feeding me wonderful fresh veggies, caribou, moose meat and fresh fish from the Atlantic Ocean brought back from Holiday & yellow eyed beans. Plus thank you allowing me to use your computer to send this BLOG to my friends!! Until next time my friends - God Bless, DJ & Big Bertha

PS - SOS & HELP:..........We have found a way to get Big Bertha(Pashe Relocation Services)- guess what NOT ME, YET...........!!!
If there is anyone out there who has any frequent flyer miles ("From San Diego, CA to Hawaii") to donate to the Posey Foundation - Pleeeeeeeeeeeease contact US ASAP - Many THANX!!!

What a difference a day makes!

It is truly amazing what a emotional roller coaster ride this trip has been for DJ. Last night after I spoke to her, I felt as if she was having a pretty good day. Despite having to deal with the cold rain off and on, setting up and breaking down camp, not having any running water or electricity, and wondering if bears truly do prefer dark meat, she seemed to be in fairly good spirits.

Today, on the other hand is a different story. It poured all night. After breaking camp in the rain, DJ packed Big Bertha and hit the road. It rained on her all day, not your typical warm "gee honey lets kick off our shoes and take a walk" summer lower 48 kind of rain, but the cold "holy sh...t I can't feel my hands anymore" kind of rain.

For those of you who don't know DJ, she is not the complaining type. The tougher things are the tougher she gets. So, when most people would have looked for a warm dry spot to take refuge, DJ pushed on. When I spoke to her earlier, she was about a half hour away from her stopping point in Beaver Lodge, Alberta. She seemed to be in good spirits, but I could tell by her voice she was tired. Despite her excellent riding gear she was chilled to the bone, and I could tell that the harsh conditions had taken a toll on her.

I have often been asked if I worry about DJ when she is out on the road alone facing the elements and the unknown. I would be lying if I said I didn't. Of course I worry I love her, but I am confident in her ability to deal with what ever hand fate might deal her, and today is no different.

DJ is laying it on the line for what she believes in, and hopes that her sacrifice will help bring awareness to what she feels is a truly noble cause. People you don't have to ride your motorcycle across the country like DJ or push yourself to extremes the way she does, but you can a still make a difference. What are you waiting for?

OH yeah....DJ also saw mountain goats & Elk today.

Until next time..... God Bless. Updated by DJ's husband Mark.

Snow capped mountains, glaciers and ninja chipmunks!

DJ slept like a baby last night, must have been that cool Canadian air. She got quite a chuckle out of the little ninja chipmunks, that seemed hell bent on getting to her almonds. After breaking camp,DJ traveled through Banff and Jasper National Parks, taking in snow capped mountains and ancient glaciers. Snapping pictures and dealing with cold rain were the order of the day, but after talking to her by phone today I got the feeling she truly enjoyed herself. As I sit down to write this, she is setting up her camp in beautiful Jasper National Park, keeping a watchful eye for the sinister ninja chipmunks...Oh and did I mention bears? Until next time...God Bless. Updated by DJ's husband Mark.
